distractions

This past Sunday, we had set up all our electronics (lights, power point projector, etc.) and as we started the service at 11am everything was a mess. Big buzz in the speakers, projector blipping, there was definitely a problem in the wiring of the building and where we had plugged into it. As service went on, we desperately tried to fix everything that was annoying that trying to fix it became just as annoying as the problems themselves. I was thinking as the days followed that this is just like life! And the story of Peter as he gets out of the boat and starts toward Jesus (which is pretty remarkable to me that he would get out of the boat in the first place) but then the buzzing and all the blipping started and Peter got his mind off of Jesus and on all the distractions then began to sink. It’s so easy to get distracted when your focus should be Jesus. It was a great lesson to be learned on Sunday and I hope we all learned a lot from all the stuff that went wrong or should I say that went right? :)
