SPIRIT WILLING, BODY WEAK

Mark 14:38
38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." NIV

Oh how true this scripture is! I want to be like Jesus, I want to live pure and Holy, I want to pray everyday and read the precious scriptures chapters beyond chapters, I want to do the work of the ministry so I can bring glory to God. BUT…… my body is weak! Too tired to do this, too tired to do that….. It reminds me of a time when I was about 19 years old and I really wanted to play the piano. I began to get pointers and started to peck away at the keys but before long I was off doing others things that weren’t so time consuming. I still would like to play the piano but I’m not willing to take the time to do so….. and to think, if I would have followed thru with my desire when I was 19, I would probably be a very good piano player now….. what is it that is keeping us from being the best Christians that God wants us to be? Time? Money? The desire? Work? Friends? Family? You name it and if we let it (the thing keeping us back) it will always make a way to slide into our time and take it all away so we can’t follow thru with Jesus.

This is sooooo true. I also struggle with fitting in the things that I want to do and am called to do. It is hard to push past the flesh and on towards your calling.

I remember when I first started running in high school. My friend helped me a lot, and something she said has stuck with me to this day. "Just keep putting one foot in front of the other", she said I would want to quit, and I did. But as I began the fight in my body, I just kept putting one foot in front of the other and I finished. I did it again and again.

So my prayer for you Pastor is to "keep putting one foot in front of the other" and soon you will be closer to God than you could have imagined.
