SKILLS

Ex 35:30-35
30 Then Moses said to the sons of Israel, "See, the LORD has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. 31 "And He has filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, in understanding and in knowledge and in all craftsmanship; 32 to make designs for working in gold and in silver and in bronze, 33 and in the cutting of stones for settings and in the carving of wood, so as to perform in every inventive work. 34 "He also has put in his heart to teach, both he and Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan. 35 " He has filled them with skill to perform every work of an engraver and of a designer and of an embroiderer, in blue and in purple and in scarlet material, and in fine linen, and of a weaver, as performers of every work and makers of designs.
NASU
** Gifts within us. God has given each of us gifts to do certain things well and it’s up to us to use those gifts either for our glory or for His glory. Here Bezalel, was a man with great craftsman skills given to him by God. I would imagine that for the first part of his life he used those skills to do the enemies work in Egypt. Crafting idols and idol temples for Pharaoh. But now he gets to use that God given skill to glorify God’s house! I’m sure he was excited and ready to get to work. We too, before we came to Christ, used our special skills to do the enemies work. Now that we have left Egypt so to speak, we can now use those skills to bring glory to God and even as the bible says, we can work for our employers “as if we were working for the Lord.” I also want to add that this man skilled in craftsmanship did not horde his skill to himself but trained others to work with him in his labor of love to God. You should not be the only one doing what you do for the Lord, you should train others to work with you so you can bring more and more glory to God.
