TIME TO MATURE
Eph 4:11-13
11 And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. ** I’ve often wondered where people in the past came up with the pastor’s job description. I mean, according to the way I was raised, someone really got our pastor’s job description wrong. Maybe it was a pastor who went beyond his calling or maybe the pastor was just a good person with hospitality gifts and did everything for everyone, who knows? But some were along the line the pastor’s job description got all messed up. I don’t understand or know how some pastors can even do what they do with the little time that they have…. Something else has to suffer, maybe it’s their family or their spouse or ???? God set this up for the good of the pastor’s and the good of the people. Without the time, the pastor cannot plan and equip the people for the work of SERVICE and for the MATURING of each individual person. If people would just read this verse and understand that they need to step out and do the work of the ministry and become mature members fulfilling their duty by giving the pastor time to study and train the people….. I know I get strange looks when I mention that “I just don’t do that or that I’m not gifted to do that.” But I plan on leading a mature church that are great Eagles in the kingdom of God.
