KNOWING WHO TO FOLLOW
2 Sam 15:19-22
19 The king said to Ittai the Gittite, "Why should you come along with us? Go back and stay with King Absalom. You are a foreigner, an exile from your homeland. 20 You came only yesterday. And today shall I make you wander about with us, when I do not know where I am going? Go back, and take your countrymen. May kindness and faithfulness be with you."
21 But Ittai replied to the king, "As surely as the LORD lives, and as my lord the king lives, wherever my lord the king may be, whether it means life or death, there will your servant be."
22 David said to Ittai, "Go ahead, march on." So Ittai the Gittite marched on with all his men and the families that were with him. NIV
Ittai apparently heard about David and then after he met David as King decided to follow him. We need to look around us and find those people who are totally dedicated to God and hang out with them and follow their example of Godliness. Also Ittai had his chance to leave before trouble arrived but he chose to stay true to the Anointing that David had.

Pastor Dave,
I read the coolest stuff yesterday -
Deuteronomy 17:14-20 - the Israelites will demand a king, the king should not send to Egypt for horses or acquire many horses, or acquire many wives, he should keep the Lord's word near to him at all times, study the word and obey the Lord's statutes.
Then go to 1Samuel 8 you will see how the Israelites demanded Samuel to appoint a "king" over them.
Then go to 1 Kings 4:26-28 and how Solomon acquired an abundance of horses (and sent to Egypt for them) and then go to 1Kings 11:1-8 where it talks about his many wives and his turning from the Lord.
I thought it was very interesting how in Deuteronomy 17 it talked about all these things.
Anyway, it was interesting to me. God's word is true and what he said in Deuteronomy came to pass in David's and Solomon's times. As many times as I've read the Bible this is the first time I've seen the connection between Deut 17 and what happened in Samuel, Saul, David and Solomon's lifetimes. Amazing!
