GREAT PARENTS
Dan 1:4
4 "Select only strong, healthy, and good-looking young men," he said. "Make sure they are well versed in every branch of learning, are gifted with knowledge and good sense, and have the poise needed to serve in the royal palace. NLT
** So, as I read this, I get the impression that Daniel and the three must have had very good parents to be qualified to this task. This says a lot about their parents that they were “strong, healthy and good looking, well versed in EVERY branch of learning with knowledge and good sense and poise.” Are we sure we’re talking about YOUNG MEN? Where have all the great parents gone? Where have all the great young men gone? God forgive us for not raising our young men in the ways of you. Help us to remember you ways and may the new parents know you and your greatness and raise more Daniels.

I read Daniel this morning and thanked God for the faith of Daniel and his friends and that despite what was happening all around them, they continued to seek God, worship Him, and obey His ways, even under threat of death. They became great witnesses for God and did much to advance His kingdom. I pray for our young men (and women) daily. They are bombarded daily at school, by the internet, t.v., movies and daily they have to make choices. I pray they seek God and make their choices and decisions based on God and His ways and not the by the influence of the world they live in, not by their own reasoning and understanding alone, but that their reasoning and understandings are tempered by the wisdom of God's word and His Holy Spirit. O God, strengthen our young people through power of Your Word and Holy Spirit and faith in Jesus Christ. Light a fire of desire in their parents to be holy examples to their children by also seeking God, His word and His wisdom which comes from all this, that their children will see their witness and follow their example. Amen.
