RETURN TO THE LORD

Mal 3:14-16
14 "You have said, 'It is futile to serve God. What did we gain by carrying out his requirements and going about like mourners before the LORD Almighty? 15 But now we call the arrogant blessed. Certainly the evildoers prosper, and even those who challenge God escape.'" 16 Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard. A scroll of remembrance was written in his presence concerning those who feared the LORD and honored his name. NIV
** Selfish, selfish, selfish…. Is this the word described about those who are not true followers of Jesus. When I read Malachi, I read about a group of people who used to serve God and truly worship Him, now question and test everything about Him. THEY SAY, “if it doesn’t benefit me, then I’m not going to do it or serve Him. Tandi had brought up the verse 15… “now we call the arrogant blessed.” And said that it reminded her of Oprah. How much we have distorted what true blessing is. I fear that people will vote during this election for that which fills their pockets and rescue their money rather than save babies and keep the family unit undefiled. America has truly been spoiled. A country who used to fear God and serve Him faithfully has now began to say the same thing… “it is futile to serve God.” If you are reading this, PRAY! Please pray for our nation like never before. This country is in need of repentance and turning back to God.

I watched the so called Presidential debate last night when I got home from the Youth Worship at RCC. It broke my heart. Earlier this week I had found myself questioning who I would vote for. After last night's debate I know who I must vote for and what I must vote against. I found myself repenting for my foolish worrying about the economy. I read an interesting thing in the commentary of the Bible this week and it said -
"God's Providence: He raises up leaders and brings them down. The city of Tyre wielded great international influence during Isaiah's day. Its wealthy merchants created a high standard of living. But when God chose to bring them down, no one could stop Him. We can position people, but only God exalts them. We can develop others, but only God raises them up."

This is so relevant to America this very moment. All the greatest mercantile economic minds and politicians are scrambling to try and fix the collapsing global economy. None of them sees that God is taking down America and the rest of the world's nations who have made "money and wealth" their gods, and have turned their backs on God and his standards. It saddens me that the most important issue of this election season has become money, yet the abortion issue (the killing millions of unborn children) is not even on people's minds, that there is a mercy killing initiative that will be on the ballot in our own state of Washington.
None of these so called "leaders" efforts re: the disaster of the global economy is working. God is taking down America and nothing they do will stop Him.
Those of us who are true followers of Jesus, must be in constant prayer for our nation and we must seek His face constantly. Our churches are going to soon be flooded with hurting, wounded, terrified people. How many of us will be ready? Pray, pray, pray for God's forgiveness, His guidance, His training, His revelation, His purification and cleansing. Help us all to die to self. Oh, Lord, forgive us and prepare us to "stand for You" in the coming days. In Jesus name, amen.
