WATCH WHAT YOU SAY

Num 12:8
8 I speak to him face to face, directly and not in riddles! He sees the LORD as he is. Should you not be afraid to criticize him?"NLT
** Here we have the confrontation between God and Aaron and Miriam. This should be a lesson to all of us about criticizing men and women of God. God will not put up with it and He will allow things to happen to us if we do it. Now I don’t have an exact answer to what He would do to us but I fear God too much to test Him and see. Often times we get so carless with our words that we allow ourselves to say things that should not be said about ministries and other ministers. I’ve been guilty of it several times and I know I’ve been confronted by God before and I have repented and choose not to give my “opinion” again unless it directly conflicts with our church and will affect the people in a negative way. I’m not sure why good Christians do not live long and fulfilled lives, but reading this passage I’ve found that without repentance and forgiveness from the person that they’ve criticized maybe God takes them home early. I’m not saying that everyone that dies before their time does this I’m just wondering how many Christians do die of some disease or something because they just couldn’t keep their mouth shut about some anointed man or woman of God….. What do you think?

Don't know if what I think is of any value, but when I was reading Mark 1 yesterday, it struck me when Jesus said to the leper after He had touched him and healed him, "See that you say nothing to anyone; but go your way, show yourself to the priest, and offer for your cleansing those things which Moses commanded as a testimony to them."

When I read this, I remembered that Jesus also said in Matthew 5:17 - "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill." He had instructed the leper to adhere to the commandments given to Moses in the Old Testament times.

I don't think that I should take lightly anything God says in the Old Testament. The commands in the Old Testament are just as important to all of us, as the things He said in the New Testament. We are not to judge others, criticize or slander others, or give false witness. I certainly don't want God to allow awful things to happen to me because I dared to criticize or slander one of His annointed. Lord, help me to put a guard over my mouth daily. In Jesus name, amen.

Have a blessed day, Pastor Dave.

My thoughts on this section were not unlike yours, but what really stood out to me was the Miriam, not Aaron was struck with leprosy.
I wonder why that is, did she instigate the complaining? or was God just making the point with one of them. Hmmmm.....

I think they both were complaining and by what I've understood from the past Miriam was the first to complain. Even so, they both complained. I checked a Matthew Henry commentary and i thought what he had to say was very interesting. He believes that Aaron's position is what saved him from instant punishment. #1. He was the priest and at that time the only one that had to inspect the lepers. #2. He was a leader for Israel and because he sacrificed his life to help lead the Israelites that counted for something when punishment was being passed out. Just like David who when he sinned the people suffered..... amazing huh?
