LIFT UP YOUR EYES

May 16th 2008

1 Thess 5:4-8
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled. 7 For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night. 8 But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet. NIV

The return of Jesus Christ should be no surprise to anyone who is a follower of Christ Jesus. Matter of fact, we should be the ones who KNOW when His coming draws near. I tell you today that it is very clear or should I say that it SHOULD be very clear today with all the stuff going on around us that Jesus’ return is very near. I’ve even spoke to people who don’t know Jesus and they even say that they can feel that something different is going on. Even as I write this right now, it has been predicted today we will see temperatures around 90 degreese in seattle on May 16th!!! Storms destroying, earthquakes, famine, disease…. You name it and it is happening all around us. So what is a Follower of Christ to do? Jesus said to occupy until He comes, but He also said to His disciples just before He left this earth, “when you see all these things come to pass, lift up your eyes for your redemption draws near.” So that’s what I’m going to do. Occupy myself with all the work of the Lord that I can get my hands on and keep my focus, my vision lifted up toward the coming of Jesus Christ. Even so, come quickly Jesus…
